DAY #2 - Multiplaza Mall

Today was a pretty relaxed day.  We had coffee and coffee cake in our room and watched the news (in English I might add).  Then we went back to sleep until lunchtime.  Dad's not feeling the greatest because he is coming down with a cold.  Luckily their is a grocery store and pharmacy in the mall so we can buy over-the-counter cold medicines if we need to.

We walked over to the mall that is right next door to our hotel and had lunch at Crepes and Waffles.  Never heard of this place before but it was pretty good!  We had pita pockets - dad's was a sandwich and mine was more like a pizza.

Then we walked around the mall to look at all the fancy stores - and I do mean fancy!  There are Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Armani, Nine West, Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, Rolex, Tiffany's, erc.  If you are really interested in seeing all the shops, please reference this website that has a complete list (with pictures of the mall): http://www.multiplaza.com/shops_Panama

Even though we couldn't afford anything, I did drag Dad into Louis Vuitton just to say we went there.  We were going to take a picture of the outside, but as soon as you walk up to the store, there are 2 doormen in suits that open the doors for you.  I didn't actually touch any of the purses because I'm sure they were in the ballpark of thousands of dollars.   Dad found some red tennis shoes that caught his eye so we checked those out.  They were $700!!!!  I found a winter stocking cap set with scarf that I really wanted to buy for Sara, but it cost $500...yes $500!!!!!  I think I'll stick to Target for my winter clothing needs.

So after Louis Vuitton, we went in a few other stores looking for souvenirs mostly,  The most difficult was trying to communicate "9-month old boy" to the lady at the store when they don't speak English.  I remembered nino (with the squiggly line over the second "n") in Spanish as well as the number nine so we finally figured it out.  It really is a challenge to know limited Spanish though!  Thank goodness I remember some things from high school Spanish classes.  Dad, on the other hand, has a hard time remembering the basics because he wants to speak Russian all the time.  :)

So after walking around the mall, we went to the grocery store that is attached to the mall and picked up a few things.  We bought some chewable vitamin C and bottled water.  Then we went back to the hotel room to rest.  I was very thankful to have some rest time because I was really starting to get leg cramps from all the walking.  I haven't totally caught Dad's cold but am starting to get a scratchy throat.  Hopefully I can ward it off with vitamin C.

So for dinner we went to Tony Roma's.  There used to be one in Omaha - that's where my parents had their Silver Wedding Anniversary party.  I had BBQ chicken and Dad had ribs.  It was really delicious!!  Then we went back to the hotel room where we skyped some more.  I am really thankful to have skype (and for free too) so that we can keep in touch with family!  I am starting to feel a little homesick and anxious about the treatment just because I'm not entirely sure what to expect.  Seeing my Mom's face, Nick, Katie, and Sara with Caleb makes it a lot easier to be so far away.  I really hope these next 2 weeks fly by because I am starting to miss the comfort of Omaha.

Tomorrow we are getting picked up at 7:30am for my first appointment.  I will update the blog tomorrow with info about how that goes.  But we have no idea how long the appointment will last.  If anyone who is reading this has skype and is interested in chatting, let me know!  I would love to have people to talk to so I don't get as bored!!

Thanks for reading!
