DAY #5 - Recuperating

Today was full of rest and relaxation.  We slept in and then took it easy all day.  I feel pretty good after the surgery - just a little tired.  I think I'm starting to get sick with a cold too.  My throat hurts a lot, so I have been taking plenty of Vitamin C and drinking lots of fluids.  Even despite my dad and I trying to maintain space between us so I don't catch what he has, I still got it.  Just more to recuperate from!

We did walk over to the mall today and did a little walking around.  I bought something for my nieces and nephew.  Not sure what to get Nick that he would like...any suggestions?   It's actually pretty difficult to find things here that say Panama on them or that are unique to Panama.  It's sure easy to find designer brands though!  Maybe we are just looking in the wrong places.

While I was taking a nap, my dad went to the mall to pick up some lunch from the food court.  He had to stop to adjust a bandage on his foot and some man said to him "Were you bitten by a Croc?" After my dad and this man laughed about it for awhile, they started chatting, and I guess the man is from Florida.  He was a retired guard at the Miami Dade Federal Prison and had "seen a lot of foot problems."  It really is amazing how you can meet someone else from the States and feel a sense of comraderie with them.  But that is exactly what happens as we gradually meet people from the US.  There are a lot more Americans here than one would think!

I did a little research about places to visit, and I decided on Reprosa.  It is a museum/store that specializes in recreating pre-colombian artifacts.  I guess they are known for their beautiful jewelry.  I am hoping I feel better soon so we can do a little sight-seeing.
